About the Club
Here you'll find out about us and the club.

Sensei Neil Blakeway
2nd Dan Wado Ryu Karate
2nd Dan Atemi Jujitsu
CRB checked, basic awareness in child protection, and emergency life support trained (Haven Ambulance Service).
I'm living proof that you don't need to start martial arts at a young age to enjoy karate. In my mid thirties my son Matthew decided to try karate, I would go along and watch him, after a few weeks I was persuaded to have a go and found that I loved it. Before starting Red Tigers Karate Club I trained for 11 years under Sensei Peter Drake, to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude and thanks.

Sensei Matt Blakeway
1st Dan Wado Ryu Karate
4th Kyu Atemi Jujitsu
Trained in Mixed Martial Arts
I started karate at 6 years of age training alongside my dad and sister, attaining 1st Dan (black belt) in November 2006 . Since 2008 I have been training in Atemi Jujitsu and earlier this year I combined my skills and started training in mixed martial arts.

Sensei Amy Blakeway
1st Dan Wado Ryu Karate
6th Kyu in Atemi Jujitsu
Trained in Iaido (the way of the Japanese sword)
CRB checked, basic awareness of child protection.
I have trained in Wado Ryu style Karate for 10 years and have recently returned to the martial art after completing my training as a primary school teacher.
I originally started training in karate because of my dad and brother, but soon found that it helped me in developing my confidence and personal fitness.

Sensei Milly Bates
1st Dan Wado Ryu karate
I have trained in Wado Ryu style Karate since I was 7 and have loved the last 7 years. I achieved 1st Dan (Black Belt) in May 2009 and am now also training in Atemi Jujitsu having just achieved Red Belt grade.
I originally started training in karate to help develop my confidence and soon realised that it also is a great way to keep fit.
Joining Red Tigers Karate Club with Sensei Neil and his family was an honour and a hard decision to make as I trained under Sensei Peter Drake, to whom I also owe a great debt of gratitude and thanks for supporting me through the years.

Sensei Bear
Born Orlando, Florida, USA.
1st Dan yogi ryu karate
Sensei Bear trained in the famous Paddington dojo under Sensei Pooh.
Worked in Hollywood as the fight coordinator in the Care Bear movie.
He has now joined us to provide extra training to the most deserving student each week at home. Provided they promise to bring him back and tell us of their adventures together.

Richard Bullock
Designated club first aider
First Aid at Work
Emergency Life Support
Advanced First Aid Provision
CRB checked with a knowledge of child protection, safeguarding and risk assessment.
Although not trained in any martial arts, my relationship with the Blakeways has allowed me to support them as they progress through their training. Being involved in the club in anyway is a great opportunity for me to develop my own skills, both in first aid and (hopefully) in karate too!
